On April 20th, Blue Star (owned by Australian mining magnate Mr Clive Palmer) signed a MOU with CSC Jinling to build Titanic II. At present, CSC Jinling and Blue Star are conducting preliminary technical studies together. Related work has progressed in an orderly manner.
Founded 60 years ago, CSC Jinling is the largest and core shipbuilding entity within the state-owned China Changjiang National Shipping Group. CSC Jinling is a high-tech organization located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Its products are sold worldwide in over 20 different countries and regions. For instance, CSC Jinling built a “roll on/roll off” or RORO vessel for Airbus SAS, the world’s only RORO vessel that is used specifically for transporting aircraft components for A380s. CSC Jinling also built RORO vessels for Swedish and Finnish ship-owners (10,300, 11,300 and 10,500 DWT respectively) which can navigate in icy region that is as cold as minus 35 degree Celsius. Such high-tech products have enabled CSC Jinling to become one of the world’s top 3 builders of RORO vessels, and laid a solid foundation for CSC Jinling to penetrate into other high value-add shipping segments like cruise lines.
Representatives of Mr Palmer have been in discussions with CSC Jinling for half a year and have visited CSC Jinling in Nanjing. Due to good reputation and good quality of CSC Jinling, Mr Palmer has finally chosen CSC Jinling to be his partner for building Titanic II.
